Masai Mara Migration | Masai Mara Travel Guide | Kenya National parks
No where in the world is there a movement of animals as immense as the Wildebeest Migration. The Mara migration is one of the ''seven wonders of the world''. The Great Mara migration is almost near, over two million animals migrate from Serengeti to Masai Mara. Every one is planning to have that spectacular moment, which occurs during July to October.
I have watched it a couple of time, every time I see the wildebeest gathering together ready to cross the Mara, it gives me a new experience, it is as if am watching it for the first time, no year is ever the same as the other. The gathered animals usually wait for that one brave wildebeest to make a brave jump and cross over, it does not matter if its on a steep place while there is a better place to cross nearby, they will all jump and try to cross over the same place. Usually they try to choose a place not much invested with crocodiles. The unlucky ones are early awaited by the crocodiles as they prey for the meal of the day, the unfortunate ones break their legs, others die due to the fall.
As soon as they cross over the greener pastures, they will face many challenges, they will be hunted , stalked and run down by larger carnivores. The Masai Mara has a big density of the big cats. The Wildebeest will spend several months feeding and fattening, taking advantage of the green pastures.
As everyone is planning to have that spectacular moment, its advisable to plan and make your reservations in advance, to enable you get accommodation and a place of your choice.
